Janice Horton

Social media is about building relationships
I’m Janice Horton – otherwise known as The Backpacking Housewife. I adore social media. I love reading and writing. I enjoy talking. I’ve always got a story to share. I also like to read and listen and support social media activities. I’m active on The Web, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and now Instagram and Pinterest.
I travel extensively all over the world and I still enthusiastically maintain my online presence.
I also love to support real-life social activities in person. I attend and occasionally speak at writer’s conferences and workshops.
As well as being an Amazon Number One Bestselling Author, I’ve been a Senior Editor at award-winning LLm Magazine, and I’ve consulted on the BBC’s new writer initiative ‘Write Here Write Now’.
I’m published by HarperCollins UK and I’ve been an active member of The Romantic Novelist’s Association ever since my first book was traditionally published in 2004. Since then I’ve written and published a total of 15 books. You can read more about my books on my Books Page.
I’m also currently on the Reader Panel as a Structural Editor critiquing manuscripts for the popular and highly regarded (and always over-subscribed) RNA’s New Writer Scheme.
My social circles and my combined social media reach is entirely organic having been earned over time.
My followers are interested in my posts and I am interested in theirs.
It’s important to remember that social media is never about numbers.
Social media is about building relationships.
Did you know that I welcome press and blogger inquiries and I’m happy (delighted, actually) to be interviewed online, offline, in print, in person, on the radio, on TV, to chat about my travels or my books
